Advice for hotels, transportation

The Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics is located in the University of Crete campus in Voutes, Heraklion, approximately 8km southwest of the center of the town of Heraklion. There is frequent bus service to town at the same bus line (11) that serves the University Hospital of Heraklion (PEPAGNI) and the Foundation of Research and Technology Hellas (FORTH or ITE). (When using the bus website keep in mind that "University" may appear as PANEPISTHMIO, a visual transliteration from Greek.)

There is also bus service from the airport to the University (not very frequent). You may have to change buses at the center of town.

We anticipate that most participants will stay in hotels near the center of the town and will be coming to campus by bus or taxi. There is a big variety of hotels and one can easily find and book one using online services.

For those that will have a car there is a very big supply of hotels at the coastal areas that extend from the west to the east of Heraklion. Access by car is easy via the main east-west highway of the island. There is ample, free parking at the Department.
