In analyzing, transmitting and storaging of analog signals it is often necessary to convert them into digital signals. A quantization scheme is used to achieve this goal. A widely used scheme, called the Pulse Code Modulation (PCM) scheme, performs quantizations on each component (channel). This raises the question: how big can the errors be? While this is a practical problem arise from engineering, there are some interesting mathematics behind it, particularly Fourier analysis and probability. In this talk, we consider PCM quantization scheme for finite frame expansions, showing that the errors in individual channels behave like white noise.
